What goals should a business have in terms of marketing when looking to only deal business to business? In this article we look at the main areas to consider.

We all know that Marketing is imperative for any business to be successful. What tools should you be using and what budget should we set?

B2B Targeting

To understand how best to market to your ideal clients research into them is crucial. Where are they located and what insights can you gleam into them? Are they on social media or do they work in Industry focused groups and only attend events? How do they market themselves? These are all critical points to consider prior to launching a Marketing campaign of your own.

Planning your efforts

Having a clear and concise plan with regards to your marketing will enable your business to run successful campaigns. Being able to plan your messaging, content, touchpoints and crucially client wins is key. Having a clear goal helps as this will effect your efforts.

Online or offline marketing

It seems that digital is everywhere and we are inundated with emails, LinkedIn mail and also Facebook messages to advertise products and services. Is this the most effective way or building a brand awareness and getting new clients? We believe a mixture of both online and offline works most effectively. The first touchpoint should be personal and something physical.

Touchpoints

Sending a nicely worded letter with a small branded gift can really make your business stand out. Once followed up via Telephone this can be a very good way of building rapport and understand your prospects. If the timing is not quite ready to engage with your service then online can work well from this point. The prospect is engaged and you can send tailored materials relevant to them that can help keep you front of mind. When timing is right the opportunity can be nurtured to the point they are ready to engage fully.

What budget?

We have found that Marketing can be done very well with minimal budget. Having a clear and concise plan into your efforts is the first step. In terms of digital a lot of Social Media platforms can be used for free! Using this effectively and planning content and touchpoints works well.
